O.Narvaez is expected to be in line for a possible Opening Day catcher spot for the Brewers in 2017. In 34 games last year, Narvaez hit .267/.350/.337 while getting a majority of the starts down the stretch.
The Brewers decision makers are also contingent of his relative inexperience, drafting Roberto Perez, who stands a good chance to share the job with the soon to be 25 year old Narvaez. The position could use an upgrade but Barry Baker remains optimistic on Narvaez/Perez production this year "the guys have shown late last year what they are capable of producing and thats why we drafted them". It looks like Barry Baker is filling the gap until one of their catching prospects makes a significant leap and are ready for duty.
