The two teams which in real life have the most World Series championships pair up for a trade:
Yankees Trade: SP Charlie Morton HOU 7/2018 10.5/2019 10.5/2020 TO15.75/2021
Cardinals Trade: OF Yusniel Diaz LAD .2 OF Troy Stokes Jr. MIL .2 3B Taylor Ward LAA .2
Reason for trade: I have to admit: this trade hurts. Morton has been terrific all season, and I just extended him at the start of this year. I was certain I was going to compete, and yes, I am in the first Wild Card spot, but even with a 3 game series, I don't like buying for a wild card spot. In addition, staying pat is not something I want to do, so I decided to sell. I would have probably preferred to move a hitter who is a sure rental, but the return I would get would be less than the value of keeping them for a wild card run. However, St. Louis and I negotiated a deal for Morton where I feel the return is worth losing Morton for this year plus. My best prospect Dustin Fowler is now in the majors, so the addition of a similarly ranked prospect OF in Diaz replenishes the farm system. In addition, I receive two prospects that are lesser ranked, but have been solid in the minors. I like Stokes as a more-powerful Brett Gardner, and Taylor Ward has had a terrific year this year, so maybe he has reached a breakthrough in his development. From St. Louis's perspective, they get a recently top quality SP who can be controlled for multiple seasons, without giving up a top 50 prospect.

Confirmed. I tend to be an aggressive buyer in dynasty leagues, and I'd like to give my team a real shot in the arm by adding Morton, who's having an excellent season. Hopefully this addition will help my team in the playoffs.
