Brewers acquired Jake Noll,2B/3B today AM via Free Agency on a 3yr/3mil contract after impressing in the early goings of Spring Training-- Noll has opened the exhibition season on fire, going 6 for 8 with a home run, double, 3 walks, 4 RBI and 5 runs in limited action.
And while Noll, who turns 25 on March 8, likely won’t be in spring camp for the duration, he’s enjoying every moment he’s here.
“It’s crazy, I’m out here on this field playing and just last year I was out here checking out the field because I was working the field crew for (FGCU) and trying to see how we could make our field better,” Noll said. “It’s hard to put into words how I’m feeling right now, but I’m definitely excited about it.”
“He’s been very impressive, I like Jake a lot,” Brewers manager Barry Baker said. “Good guy. Plays first base, third base and he’s done really well so far. His first impression has definitely opened up a lot of eyes around here.”
Noll says his goals coming into the season aren’t much different than they are any other year, except this year he knows he could be a phone call away from the big leagues.
“Once again, it’s about going out and having fun,” he said. “But mainly, just get better every day. That’s my main goal, just work on my craft and see how far I can go in this game.”

Brewers also managed to get Willie Abreu,OF back on the minor league FA market on a minor league contract
"its great to have Willie back in the organisation--we had to make a few moves during the early part of the off-season but it was always a plan to bring him back"

The Royals and Brewers made a trade earlier today, with the Brewers moving their 1st rd 2020 pick for Casey Golden,OF who had an outstanding season last year. Golden hit 34 homers, with 95 runs batted in at Low-A Asheville in 2018. This followed 20 homers and 59 RBI in 54 games in Rookie ball in 2017.
Golden earned his stripes as a slugger with UNC-Wilmington and was the 20th pick in the 2017 draft by the Rockies. He had a .288 batting average and sizzling 1.026 on-base plus slugging percentage at Grand Junction followed by a .278 batting average and .921 OPS at Asheville. That earned him the South Atlantic League’s Most Valuable Player award.
His ability to hit, and hit with power, means his rise up the minor leagues might gain speed this season.
