The Cleveland Indians and the Texas Rangers meet in game two of their three game set in MLB(world series rings) action from Globe Life Park on Tuesday night.
The Cleveland Indians(custom Cleveland Indians championship rings) will look to bounce back after dropping the opener of the set on Tuesday by a final score of 7-2. Francisco Lindor and Oscar Mercado each had a solo home run to make up Cleveland’s scoring as a team in the loss, while Jake Bauers went 2 for 4 at the dish and Jose Ramirez added a double as well in the defeat. Carlos Santana and Leonys Martin each had base hits as well to cap off the Tribe’s offense as a team in the losing effort. Mike Clevinger gave up five runs on three hits while walking three and striking out seven over 4.2 innings of work, falling to 1-1 on the year in the loss. Zach Plesac will start game two and is 1-2 with a 2.92 ERA and 20 strikeouts this season. This will be Plesac’s first career start against Texas.
The Texas Rangers will look to build on their solid series opening victory from Monday night. Elvis Andrus and Danny Santana each had two RBIs with Andrus doubling while Santana had a home run. Jeff Mathis and Shin-Soo Choo each had an RBI with Choo doubling as well. Ronald Guzman went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles while Delino DeShields added a base knock as well in the victory for the Rangers. Lance Lynn got the win to improve to 8-4 on the year after allowing just one run on six hits while striking out nine over seven innings of work. Adrian Sampson will start game two and is 5-3 with a 4.21 ERA and 58 strikeouts this season. This will be Sampson’s first career start against Cleveland.
Cleveland is 1-6 in their last 7 games against the AL West(cheap championship rings) and 5-2 in their last 7 game two matchups while the over is 8-2 in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record. Texas is 4-1 in Sampson’s last 5 home starts and 14-5 in their last 19 home games while the under is 8-3 in their last 11 game two matchups. Cleveland is 10-3 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams and 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Texas.
Both starters are coming off of a pretty bad start last time up, with Sampson giving up six runs in five innings while Plesac allowed four runs across 5.1 innings of work. And while Sampson has a longer history of getting roughed up in a starting role, the fact is that Texas has been the hotter hitting lineup of the two lately and are at home so that should provide a spark here. I just haven’t seen enough from Plesac to warrant being a favorite on the road, so I’ll take Texas and the plus money in this one.
